Review: Evana De Lune At The Flaming Gallah

Ok, first of all I need to fess up. My friends group and I are huge Evana De Lune fans, stemming for most of us from having the honour of appearing at our first fringe festival performance where Evana was the headliner. We’ve also done a number of her hugely popular travelling workshops, and at least one of us (you know who you are) has a proper girl crush.

So it came as no surprise that when word got out that Evana was going to be doing an intimate show at The Flaming Gallah our friends chat group lit up with ticket links and pre-show-dinner planning.

The Flaming Gallah is a recent addition to Fremantle’s bar scene but what makes it a little gem is that it is very very very queer friendly.

The decor is incredibly kitch and I personally love it. My favourite part is that there is a poster just outside the bathrooms of a Levi’s model type guy holding a baby in his arms and what’s incredible about it is that my wife had that exact poster on her wall when we first started dating a very very very very long time ago.

Anyway back to the performances. Evana is gorgeous and has an incredibly approachable personality. If you follow her on Instagram she is amazingly open about her own challenges in life and I think that it’s a big part of her charm that she can also show that vulnerability.

For her first performance we got a cheeky introduction to her style. Sexy, flirty and totally in command.  Adorned in a white crystal bejeweled gown, which against her porcelain complexion and flowing dark hair gave her an ethereal appearance as she floated through the crowd.

Teasing and playing with the audience with a “oh you want to see my boobs? These ones? oh maybe, maybe not, maybe, but do you really want to see them, are you sure? oh ok then” with cheers and whoops quickly following.

Her first performance left us breathless and wanting more however with a number of us sampling her available for one night only signature cocktail, mixed by the talented mixologists behind the Gallah bar it helped to pass the time until her second performance of the evening.

After a short break, a visit by the local constabulary just to make sure we were doing gay things in a gay way, the second performance got under way.

Playful, breathtaking, sexy, cheeky and absolutely fun AF, Evana again teased and tantalised her way through the bar. A few passers by catching just a glimpse of the incredible entertainer that she is.

I could just go on, but I think you get the idea.

Evana is one of the most wonderful, (respectfully) approachable Burlesque performers in Australia right now.

If you get a chance to see her perform, attend one of her workshops or just want to see what a sweet human she is and follow her Instagram, then you should probably be looking to do that as soon as you’ve finished reading this article (just make sure you come back here afterwards)
